How GoFreelancer works

Our ethos and origins are displayed below

The idea of Go Freelancer was the inspiration that first created SBC Digital Ltd, a UK company, by a group of freelancers with years of experience from working together across various agencies, public sector & corporate clients.

We were alarmed by some of the "freelance" sites out there taking a cut of the budget from a job and even charging freelancer's to speak to employers/job posters'.

It was especially concerning to us, since the freelancers were the ones doing all the work. So we decided to create a site that puts both the freelancer and the employer's/job posters first.

All of us here at GoFreelancer are at the top of our profession with years of corporately gained skills and experience and, as such, we all agreed that no skilled person such as all of us are, would ever pay someone to speak to them about their work. We therefore believe that if we offered a 100% free to use system for both freelancer's and employer's then we will not be feeding the race to the bottom, which is what most freelancer sites do.

So we hope our assertions prove to be true! Since we are free to use, we feel that that we can attract the best freelancer's from around the UK who agree with us that paying to speak to somone or sharing the financial results of their hard work with a group of other people is unfair. Since we feel that top class, very experienced freelancer's will not or, even do not sign up to their services.

We welcome you all therefore, both freelancer's and employers to our way of doing this kind of service for real professionals.

The “For Freelancers, By Freelancers” line isn’t just empty words to use as a tagline. We will always put our users first and make sure we remember that this site is about freelancers and employers having a way to get jobs done without some interfering middle-man looking for their cut. Just Sign Up and start looking for or posting jobs.

Other than that initial point of contact we don’t feel we need to be involved, it’s down to a freelancer and employer at that point. With that being said if you want to keep all contact & negotiations done through the site you can do that and we still won’t look for a cut.

We have delivered a premuim corporate style website with all the best parts we saw in other places and added premium features like the trackable message service, file uploads & management service, portfolio's, reporting service, job and applicant management services.

This is not just a freelancer website its a complete managed service where you get to control and monitor your own activities and keep records of jobs you've applied for and people who have contacted you and if you're an employer you get the same service for any jobs you manage or freelancer's you have reached out to.

All of this is what makes us 'different' and we hope you will agree.

Simply put… Ad’s. We know what you're' thinking, “Is this going to be another site that is flooded with irrelevant, poorly implemented ads that will make the site borderline unusable?” No! No it will not. We also hate websites that overdo their ad placements to the detriment of the user experience.

All we plan to have is minimal, relevant, unobtrusive ads to cover costs of running the site and maybe buy a coffee every now and then. However, we cannot stress this enough, we will never charge freelancers or employers to use this service, it is the fundamental reason for the site existing and that will never change.

We may from time-to-time introduce premium listings or offer you tools and services to help freelancer's and job posters that you can use for your freelance business and, although these may be paid for items, they will never be required and you will never be asked for money just to be part of GoFreelancer or use it's normal services.

For employers we may also offer premium services to ensure your posted jobs get prominent promotion on our site, but like the freelancer's these will never be forced on you and you will always be able to post your jobs for free.

Finally, if we do you well or you like the place and appreciate us, you can always make a small voluntary donation to our paypal account which will help us to build more features and bring you a better service.
